Abstract: The importance of lower extremity strength in performing vertical jumps has long been established. This study compares two treatment interventions in relation to core vertical jump. The purpose of this study is to determine which two treatment regimens (core strengthening combined with lower extremity strengthening or lower extremity strengthening alone) will provide a greater and significant effect in increasing bilateral vertical jump height in 2ND year Physical Therapy students of FEU-NRMF. A quasi-experimental design was used to compare two treatment regimens to explore its effects in increasing vertical jumps among healthy recreational sports player consenting males currently not taking any muscle enhancing supplements who were assigned equally into two groups, both of which underwent a program for three weeks consisting of specific lower extremity exercises but only one group had an additional set core of exercises. Measurements of vertical jumps were obtained weekly by taking the vertical jump height before and after taking the prescribed exercise programs. Results showed a significant difference between core & LE strengthening vs LE strengthening alone in increasing the vertical jump among 2nd year BSPT recreational sport player (p<0.05)with an average increase of 2.5 + 2.23 cm on the vertical jump of the subjects under core & LE strengthening as compared to LE strengthening alone (1.1 + 09cm). The results suggest that LE strengthening when combined with core strengthening will demonstrate a greater and significant increase in vertical jump height when the exercise regimen is performed 4x per week in 3 weeks.
