Summary: Abstract: Ovarian pregnancy is one of the rarest form of ectopic implantation. Its incidence ranges from 1 in 7,000 to 1 in 60, 000 pregnancies, and accounts for only 1-3% of all ectopic gestations. Recently, however, there appears to have been an increase in its rate mostly attributed to the heightened use of intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD) and artificial reproductive technology (ART). Although quantitative serum β-human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) measurements and pelvic ultrasonography increase diagnostic capabilities in suspected ectopic gestations, definite diagnosis remains to be difficult prior to surgery. In this paper, we present a case of an ovarian pregnancy in a 23 year-old, Gravida 1 Para ) who underwent exploratory laparotomy with wedge resection of the right ovary under general orotracheal intubation.
