Summary: Abstract: The Corona Virus outbreak occurred in the early month of 2020, which resulted in halting of the school year then resuming the succeeding school year on the online setup due to restrictions. Previous face-to-face activities were adapted to online activities, such as laboratory activities where decision making of groups are held online through different platforms. The researchers aimed to seek the advantages and disadvantages of an online and face-to-face group discussion during laboratory activities and determine if there is a significant change between an online group discussion and face-to-face group discussion during laboratory activities. A total of 103 participants were picked by the criterion method who are exclusively STEM students around Metro Manila. There were 100 students who participated in answering online surveys through google forms while three students participated in an online interview through ZOOM, which they answered based on their personal experiences regarding group discussions on both learning setup. The data were then compared from each other and then interpreted quantitatively and qualitatively using Comparative Research Design. Findings from the surveys and interviews shows that there are no significant changes observed and found between the two different setups but showed a slight difference in the freedom aspects, but computations have shown that the changes are still not significant. Given the result, researchers recommend future researchers to broaden the scope of the reserch by sampling a region of the Philippines that is not Metro Manila.
